FORT LAUDERDALE, FL – (October 14) – As part of its annual giving campaign, associates at JM Family Enterprises, Inc. (JM Family) increased contributions to United Way of Broward County by more than $50,000 for the 2010/11 giving season. More than $175,000 was raised through the continued support of dedicated long-time contributors and an impressive response by first-time donors.
“JM Family Enterprises is a true corporate leader in Broward County and should be commended for its outstanding efforts to improve lives in our community,” said Jennifer O’Flannery Anderson, Ph. D., president & CEO of United Way of Broward County. “We are grateful to have companies like JM Family in Broward County to help support the less fortunate and ensure a better tomorrow.”
Throughout the campaign, JM Family designated three “United Way Wednesdays” where associates could participate in fun activities that added to the fundraising efforts, like a mini-golf putting competition, company-wide BINGO game and a Jeans Day. Organizations supported by United Way were also on hand to share more about how associates’ donations can make a real difference in the community.
“In a tough economy, everyone is more cautious of how and when they spend their income. It has become a routine part of our daily thinking. I am so proud that our associates generously gave to United Way,” said Colin Brown, president & CEO of JM Family and United Way of Broward County board member. “We support United Way because of its meaningful impact in making a stronger and healthier community.”
Diversified automotive company JM Family Enterprises, founded by automotive legend Jim Moran, has been a significant partner of United Way of Broward County for over a decade. An important part of the company’s unique culture is giving back to the communities in which its associates live and work, including over 1,300 in South Florida.
