Pinecrest Resident Wins a Brand New Car from Donating to United Way

June 20, 2012

On Wednesday, June 20, Trudy Lackey Carrodeguas thought she was heading into work for a routine photo shoot. The Pinecrest resident had no idea that there would be a team of people waiting for her with balloons and a brand new car!

Mrs. Carrodeguas is a loyal supporter of United Way of Broward County. Throughout the year, generous people in Broward County who donated a minimum of $260 (which is only $5 per week) to United Way were entered into a drawing to win a car donated from Holman Automotive Group’s Pompano Ford dealership.

"We were delighted to surprise Trudy with her brand new car!” said Kathleen Cannon, President and CEO of United Way of Broward County. “Trudy along with so many individuals and business partners who have supported us throughout the year, are the foundation for our work in the community.  Trudy represents the remarkable generosity of people in Broward who have made a difference in the lives of many.”

This year, the vehicle was a 2012 Ford Explorer from Holman Automotive Group's Pompano Ford dealership.  This is the 17th consecutive year that Holman Automotive Group has donated a vehicle to one lucky United Way supporter. Pompano Ford General Sales Manager, Anthony Guerrera and Pompano Ford General Manager, Brad St. Pierre were on site to hand Mrs. Carrodegaus the keys to her brand new car.
