United Way of Broward County has launched a new website, Broward Teachers Rock (www.BrowardTeachersRock.org) to support local teachers and parents. The new site is an online community conference table where visitors can find valuable resources, information on important education issues, share stories about great teachers, and participate in live forums to become better advocates for our children’s education.

“This new website is a place where our community can come together and combine efforts to support great teachers,” said Kathleen Cannon, President/CEO of United Way of Broward County. “We want to provide an easy to use platform for Broward parents and teachers to learn what the important education issues are in our community and how they can advocate to improve education for all Broward County students.”

The website will serve as a portal to education-related information, as well as a system of support for local educators and parents. Visitors will receive the timeliest education news from the “In the News” section, helpful information from the Resource Directory, and information about volunteer opportunities. The website also hosts videos of local teachers and students telling their own stories about what inspired them to become teachers and how teachers have positively impacted their lives.

United Way of Broward County encourages members of the community to join the live forums and participate in discussion topics related to education issues. Current discussion topics include:  “What makes a great teacher?” and “How can we recruit and keep great teachers?” Visitors can also suggest their own education-related topics.
