NSU Partners with United Way of Broward County's MISSION UNITED Initiative

February 19, 2014

United Way of Broward County’s MISSION UNITED recently received a $25,000 donation from Nova Southeastern University. Elaine Blattner, Director of Development – South Florida for Nova Southeastern University, presented the $25,000 donation check to Kathleen Cannon, President/CEO of United Way of Broward County, during United Way’s Day of Caring.

“NSU and United Way of Broward County have enjoyed a long and fruitful relationship and we are pleased to continue partnering with MISSION UNITED’s efforts,” said Nova Southeastern University President and CEO George L. Hanbury II, Ph.D. “NSU’s commitment to the wellbeing of our community’s veterans can be seen through our law, medical and mental health clinics, as well as programs for current students. NSU’s student veteran organization counts more than 1,000 veterans as members who are actively involved on campus and in the community.”

MISSION UNITED is a new critical program supporting US military service members, veterans and their families in Broward County by helping them re-acclimate to civilian life. Key focus areas include employment, education, health, legal assistance, emergency financial aid, and housing. MISSION UNITED was created with multiple partners to align existing military services and create programs where there are gaps in support.
