More than 200 guests attended United Way of Broward County’s 4th Annual Magnolia Luncheon presented by Broward Health at The Global Grille and Event Center on Thursday, May 21st. The annual event recognizes women of dignity, strength and perseverance.
During the luncheon, United Way of Broward County presented renowned local businesswoman and philanthropist Lynne Wines with the Magnolia Leadership Award in honor of the remarkable impact she has had on our community through her hard work, dedication and philanthropic efforts.
United Way also presented Publix Super Markets with the Magnolia Corporate Philanthropy Award in recognition of the supermarket’s high number of female Leadership Donors and its company-wide commitment to United Way of Broward County and the community. At the Luncheon, United Way of Broward County announced that the Women’s Leadership Council was being renamed Women United to more accurately reflect the group’s mission.
Maria Mas Blet served as the keynote speaker. Mas Blet is the CEO and Managing Principal of Hollywood-based GSK Wealth Advisors, and is currently the Chair for the National Women’s Leadership Council. She has received numerous awards, including being named the 2014 Influential Business Woman of the Year Award by the South Florida Business Journal.

Formed in 2010, Women United was created to encourage women leaders within the community to pledge a commitment to United Way of Broward County. Together, the more than 500 women who currently contribute $1,000 or more annually to United Way of Broward County, account for more than $1 million of the total contributions raised through the organization’s annual workplace campaign. Each year Women United focuses their efforts on specific priority United Way projects.
Irika Sargent, CBS 4 News Anchor served as Master of Ceremonies for the luncheon. Event co-chairs included Bridget Christie Jeffries from SunTrust Bank and Sasha Moon from JM Family Enterprises, Inc.
