United Way of Broward County is pleased to announce the addition of two new members to its Board of Directors. Margaret Callihan, Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of SunTrust Bank South Florida, and Kathleen Woods-Richardson, City Manager of the City of Miramar, became United Way of Broward County Board members effective July 1, 2015.
“We are thrilled to add such quality members of our community to the United Way of Broward County Board,” said Kathleen Cannon, President & CEO of United Way of Broward County. “They have all been tremendous supporters of United Way of Broward County for some time and we are very thankful for their support. It is because of community leaders like these individuals that we are able to reach and inspire Broward County residents to become involved with United Way.”
Margaret Callihan assumed the position of Chairman, President and CEO of SunTrust, South Florida in January 2013. Previously, Margaret served in similar capacities for the SunTrust Southwest Florida and Chattanooga Regions, and was the first woman region president named in SunTrust. Margaret was educated at Vanderbilt University where she earned her BA cum laude in May, 1977 and her MBA in May, 2004. In addition to United Way of Broward County, Margaret currently serves on the Board of Directors of WPBT – Channel 2 in Miami; the Board of the Broward Performing Arts Foundation; the Museum of Science and Discovery (MODS) Board; the Board of Directors of the Florida Chamber of Commerce and the Board of Directors of the Broward Workshop.
Kathleen Woods-Richardson has held the position of City Manager for the City of Miramar, Florida since September 9, 2013. Prior to coming to Miramar, Kathleen Woods-Richardson headed the merged Miami-Dade County Public Works and Waste Management Department. Kathleen’s experience as a Miami-Dade County administrator included eight years with Miami-Dade Transit (MDT) and 22 years in solid waste. Kathleen is a native-South Floridian, attending McArthur High School before receiving an Associate Degree in Business Administration from Miami-Dade Community College and a Bachelor of Public Administration from Florida International University.
