United Way of Broward County hosted the 4th Annual Rock United Battle of the Bands contest on Friday, September 25th at Revolution Live. The rock n’ roll filled evening raised $17,000 for local community initiatives. Additional funds were raised throughout the evening from the “Text to Donate” initiative that will provide 5,700 meals for our neighbors in need. More than 500 music fans attended the popular annual event that featured local corporate bands competing to win the Battle of the Bands. Kavita Channe, Sports & Entertainment Host and Broadcaster with VIP TV, Fox Sports Florida, served as emcee for the event.
This year, five bands battled it out on stage including Rock Candy, a band comprised of attorneys, who was crowned the winner of Rock United. LLP from Shutts & Bowen was named runner-up in the competition while The EXECutioners, comprised of members from the Executives’ Association of Fort Lauderdale, took home the award for Best Cover Song. Judges from the music industry critiqued the bands based on creativity/originality, musicianship, stage presence/crowd interaction, appearance and personality.
