United Way of Broward County recently surprised donor and Margate resident Carlos Agurcia with a brand new 2016 MINI Countryman. For more than 15 years, United Way of Broward County has given a new car to one lucky donor thanks to the generosity of the Holman Automotive Group. Agurcia’s name was entered into a 2016 MINI Countryman giveaway with thousands of other entries from more than 200 South Florida companies who give to United Way of Broward County. Throughout the year, Broward County residents who donated a minimum of $260 (only $5 per week) to United Way of Broward County were entered into a drawing of over 10,000 entrants. Agurcia, who works in the dairy department at the Publix Super Markets distribution center in Deerfield Beach, has consistently donated to United Way of Broward County for the past five years.
“It was an incredible moment to reward Carlos for his generosity to United Way of Broward County. His $5 per week donation not only made an impact in our community, but ultimately greatly impacted his own life,” said Kathleen Cannon, President and CEO of United Way of Broward County. “Carlos represents the amazing generosity that we receive from Broward County residents through the Workplace Campaign every year. Without support from the community like this we would not be able to help so many people.”
“Holman Automotive Group has been involved with United Way for more than 60 years. Since 1999, we have donated a new car to be given to a lucky donor. In addition, our employees participate in other United Way ventures throughout the year. We are proud to partner with such a great organization as United Way of Broward County,” said Ken Loiseau, Vice President and General Manager of Lauderdale MINI.
