United Way of Broward County Supporters Show their Love for the Community by Raising Nearly $60,000 during "Red & White - Culinary Delight"

FT. LAUDERDALE, FL – (February 11, 2011) – Nearly 450 United Way of Broward County supporters and connoisseurs gathered for its exclusive, sold-out “Red & White – Wine and Culinary Delight” event presented by Consolidated Credit Counseling Services, Inc. and Premier Beverage Company. United Way of Broward County raised nearly $60,000 through ticket sales, sponsorships, silent auction proceeds and raffle prizes. 

“Red & White was a great success, and we are so fortunate to have such loyal support from the community as well as our corporate sponsors,” said Jennifer O’Flannery Anderson, Ph.D., President & CEO of United Way of Broward County. “Since the event was right before Valentine’s Day, it was a great way for attendees to show their love for their friends and families as well as their love for the community.”

All proceeds from the evening will benefit United Way of Broward County’s Community Investment Fund, which focuses on the three targeted Community Impact areas of Education, Income, and Health. Through these impact areas, United Way is determined to make sure Broward County residents are healthy, have the opportunity to succeed in school, and are able to provide for their families financially.

Attendees were able to sample more than 200 different wines from around the world, as well as culinary delights from 12 of the best Fort Lauderdale restaurants, cooking schools, and catering companies. These local culinary institutions included:  Publix Apron’s Cooking School, ARC Broward Culinary Institute, Bravo’s Ristorante, Brio Tuscan Grille, Broward Health, Chart House Restaurant, Lenore Nolan-Ryan Cooking School and Catering, Hyatt Regency Pier Sixty-Six Catering, Sea Level, Valentino’s Cucina Italiana, Cold Stone Creamery, and Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory.
