United Way of Broward County is partnering with the Souper Bowl of Caring from January 17 to February 7 to collect food to distribute to various non-profit feeding programs within the community. United Way’s partnership with the Souper Bowl of Caring will utilize the publicity of the Super Bowl in South Florida to motivate people to fight hunger and poverty in Broward County.

The United Way of Broward County’s Commission on Substance Abuse (UWBCCSA) is proud to announce Pat Castillo as its new Vice-President effective January 27, 2010. Ms. Castillo has served with United Way’s Commission on Substance Abuse for 10 years, progressing from her initial position as Director of Youth Programs to her most recent position as Senior Director for the last three years. She will be responsible for developing partnerships between federal, state and local agencies to foster, develop, and enhance integrated drug-free efforts throughout Broward County, while searching for innovative and effective ways to address the issue of substance use/abuse.

This year’s beneficiaries are The Children’s Home Society and The Russell Life Skills and Reading Foundation.
