Project Lifeline
What is Project Lifeline?
Project Lifeline is United Way of Broward County's response to the increased demands being placed upon the agencies and organizations in our community due to the economic hardships now facing so many of our county's families.
Why are we doing this?
The health and human services community is seeing tremendous need for shelter, food and other basic needs. 2-1-1 First Call for Help, Broward's community information line, is receiving more than 50% more calls for assistance than last year and United Way's partner agencies that help serve families and seniors in need are seeing a growing demand for services.
The School Board of Broward County has identified 300 children last month who are now homeless, up from 189 last year. These are the children we seek to help.

How does it work?
United Way of Broward County's goal is to raise $1 million for this initiative that will go towards providing immediate help to our citizens most affected by the downturn of the economy. Relief will be provided in two major areas:
- Increasing the amount of food available at the food banks and improving the delivery system to transport this food to our county's food pantries.
- Keeping families in their homes by providing the financial, legal and employment resources they need to keep afloat.
How can I get involved?
