Employment Services
Linking Qualified Veterans to Our Employer Partners

As a Hiring Company Community Partner MISSION UNITED asks you to support our returning and transitioning service members and their families. As a partner, you will have access to the MISSION UNITED Employment Specialist who will support your Human Resources department by providing an array of comprehensive services. Veterans who are seeking employment assistance through MISSION UNITED will have opportunities to learn targeted networking skills, resume writing skills, interviewing skills and other soft skills that will help them succeed and be valuable employees in the civilian workforce.

Some of the key services provided to employment partners include:

  • Linking employment partners with transitioning service members, veterans and military spouses who are seeking employment opportunities in Broward County.

  • The MISSION UNITED will post shared job orders on the MISSION UNITED online job board.

  • The Employment Specialist will screen veteran applicants against posted job orders to identify qualified, employment ready candidates for further employment consideration by your Human Resources team.

  • The MISSION UNITED Employment Specialist will provide your organization with general information about employer tax credits and other incentive programs designed to provide added benefits to companies who choose to include veterans in their workforce.

Hire a Veteran

There are multiple resources available to help employers connect their civilian career opportunities to job-seeking veterans. In fact, that is one of the challenges – there are so many resources that employers can become confused and overwhelmed when determining where to go, whom to talk to and whether resources are reputable. Rather than conduct an Internet search for possible connections, and then wonder if the agency is trustworthy, employers can access the following vetted resources.

The MISSION UNITED employment specialist provides comprehensive services to your Human Resources department to locate veterans or their spouses who are seeking employment opportunities in Broward County.

Service includes:

  • Post job openings on the MISSION UNITED applicant tracking system

  • Match qualified veterans to your job openings

  • Connect your company to social networking sites that are Veteran-related

  • Explain the value of hiring veterans

  • Provide military cultural awareness training

VOW to Hire Heroes Act – Employers Tax Credits

Returning Heroes Tax Credit is a hiring tax credit that will provide an incentive for businesses to hire unemployed veterans – regardless of the company size.

Wounded Warrior Tax Credit doubles the existing tax credit for long-term unemployed veterans with service-connected disabilities.

Work Opportunity Tax Credit (WOTC) is a Federal tax credit available to employers who hire and retain veterans and individuals from other target groups with significant barriers to employment.

Special Employer Incentives (SEI) program is for eligible Veterans that face extraordinary obstacles to obtaining employment. The Department of Veterans Affairs Vocational Rehabilitation and Employment program provides eligible veterans an opportunity to obtain training and practical hands-on experience concurrently through the SEI program. Veterans are hired by participating employers at the onset of the SEI program and employment is expected to continue following successful completion of the SEI program. As a result, the SEI program is beneficial for both employers and Veterans. Employers who hire veterans receive:
