Women's History Month: Carin Porras
In honor of Women's History Month we will be highlighting volunteers, advocates and friends of United Way of Broward County throughout the month.
This week, we are highlighting Carin Porras, who just happens to be the chair of Women United..
What are you involved with at United Way of Broward County and why?
I have been involved with Women United through United Way of Broward County for approximately six years. During that time, I have been a ReadingPal, a member of the Magnolia Luncheon committee, (which I co-chaired two years ago). I have traveled to Tallahassee with the advocacy team. I have attended and participated in numerous events, including the Eat-Live-Save events, Day of Caring, Get on the Bus, and Read Across Florida. I have been on the leadership team for the past three years and I am currently privileged to serve as the chair of Women United for Broward County. The women involved in our group are hard-working, friendly, dedicated, inspiring, and so much fun!
Which woman inspires you and why?
I am inspired by Michelle Obama, who is a tremendous example of elegance, dignity, and integrity.
What is your favorite thing about being a woman?
As the proud parent of three grown sons, my favorite thing about being a woman is the opportunity to be their mother.
