Women's History Month: Jamie Hagar
In honor of Women's History Month we will be highlighting volunteers, advocates and friends of United Way of Broward County throughout the month. This week, we are highlighting Jamie Hagar, who we are very excited to honor at this year's Women United Magnolia Luncheon as the Woman of Promise.
Jamie Hagar
What are you involved with at United Way of Broward County and why?
I’m involved with Women United, Magnolia Committee and NextGen United. I was a part of a lunch and learn they hosted at MMA, and was excited about all the opportunities to give back to the community. I was very impressed with the targeted approached to give back – to figure for the three vital needs of every person living in our community: Health, Education and Financial Stability. I have found a community within Broward County of those who strive to help others and support one another at the same time.
Which woman inspires you and why?
My mom inspires me because she has been such a strong role model growing up, both personally and professionally. She showed me that with hard work you can accomplish anything you set your mind to, and to never give up. She’s funny and kind, and just one of those people that everyone seems to love. She makes me proud every day. I was lucky enough to learn early on what a great female role model is like, and have been able to surround myself with more strong women as I continue to grow in my career.
What is your favorite thing about being a woman?
I think there is so many amazing things about being a women. Women have the ability to make a difference by banding together, and being an example for those who will come after us. As women, we strive to build long lasting relationships. There is such a strong feeling about being successful in business and having an incredible personal life at the same time.
