FT. LAUDERDALE, FL – (March 30, 2011) – On March 9, more than 60 of Fort Lauderdale’s most influential women gathered for the first United Way of Broward County’s Women’s Leadership Council “Power of the Purse” Financial Speaker Series. The luncheon presentation featured Sheri Billings, CFM and Rosa Leace, International Financial Advisor of Billings Leace Wealth Management.
“Responsible for more than 80% of household purchasing and philanthropy decisions, women are a huge economic force,” said Jennifer O’Flannery Anderson, Ph.D., President and CEO of United Way of Broward County. “As the primary caregivers of their families, it is so important for women to be empowered and take charge of their own financial health and wellbeing.”
Billings and Leace discussed wealth management and preparing for the future. They also referenced “Your Guide to Understanding Investing” by Kenneth M. Morris and Virginia B. Morris, which was available to guests.
The “Power of the Purse” Financial Speakers Series is an added benefit to becoming a member of the Women’s Leadership Council. The luncheons serve as an open forum, where women philanthropist can engage in meaningful discussion, learn about finance and meet new people.
