FORMER COO OF BROWARD HOUSE TAKES THE HELM AT COUNTY'S MAJOR NON-PROFIT
United Way of Broward County announced today the naming of Kathleen Cannon as its new President & CEO. Cannon will begin her new role heading up one of the largest non-profits in Broward County on May 14, 2012.
“It is an honor to announce Kathleen Cannon will be United Way’s new President & CEO,” said Lynne Wines chairman of the Board of Directors for United Way of Broward County and President and CEO of First Southern Bank. “Her outstanding reputation and leadership philosophy make her an exemplary choice for this position. We are excited to embrace Kathleen’s vision and business acumen as United Way continues to further its mission – to positively effect change in people’s lives.”
Cannon has spent the past ten years as the COO of Broward House, an HIV and AIDS community service organization, and has been in executive leadership for more than 15 years. She is dedicated to the non-profit sector and committed to making a difference in the lives of people in Broward County. She believes supplying outstanding services, maintaining sound fiscal practices, generating robust fundraising and influencing policy changes to the system of care are the keys to success. She is a licensed clinical social worker and has served as Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Broward House since 2002. Cannon earned her master’s degree in social work from Florida International University.
