Mission United is a critical program supporting US military service members, veterans and their families in Broward County by helping them re-acclimate to civilian life.  Key focus areas include employment, education, health, legal assistance, emergency financial aid, and housing.

Through Mission United, United Way of Broward County and American Red Cross align existing services and create solutions where there are gaps in support.

 

Employment
Linking Veterans to Jobs

  • Learn targeted networking, resume writing and interviewing skills and how to succeed in the civilian workforce

Creating a Path to Occupation

  • Assist veterans and their families in making career and education decisions to match skills and interests

  • Learn which local or vocational school, college or university fits your career choice

Accessing Health Care Active Duty

  • Learn about your VA eligibility and enrollment
  • Navigate the civilian health care system


Legal Assistance
Addressing Veteran Legal Needs

  • Pro bono legal services which include: marriage and family law; consumer issues; housing issues; VA benefits; military discharge upgrades; real estate and business transactions; probate, wills and estate planning


Emergency Financial Aid
Providing Access to Short-Term Assistance

  • Utility bills including gas, electric, water, internet and phone service
  • Car payments and repair costs
  • Mortgage and rent payments
  • Groceries, baby formula and household supplies
  • School supplies and clothing
  • Medical bills


Housing
Eliminating Homelessness

  • Linking to existing veteran housing opportunities
  • Support for veterans in danger of losing housing
