Volunteering is a great way to connect with your community and see, first-hand the good work your United Way is doing in Broward County.  Everyday ordinary people are accomplishing extraordinary things by giving back. United Way of Broward County can help find volunteer opportunities that fit your interests, skills and schedule.  Some volunteer opportunities include:

  • Determining United Way investments through the allocations committee
  • Volunteering at Day of Caring or many other community projects
  • Identifying new sponsors and corporate campaign partners on the development committee
  • Bringing in sponsors or assisting with event planning on the special events committee
  • Joining an affinity group – Tocqueville Society, Leadership, Envision United, Women’s Leadership Council, Young Leaders Society
  • Advocating for policy change on an important issue
  • Becoming a ReadingPal

EVENT:  Impact Bus Tour

LOCATION: Meet at United Way of Broward County - 1300 S Andrews Avenue, Fort Lauderdale FL 33316

DESCRIPTION: UWBC invites you to join us for an exclusive chartered bus tour to our funded agencies and partners.  See firsthand how you can make a difference in our community. Volunteering at Salvation Army and then taking a tour of Sunserve.

EVENT:  Leaders United Connect Event

DATE: Wednesday, October 25, 2017

TIME: 5:30pm to 8:00pm

LOCATION: Collective Ventures - 100 N Federal Highway, Suite #C4, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33301 (SE corner of The Waverly Las Olas)

DESCRIPTION: Our Leaders United group sets out to bring folks that identify as being a leader (or potential leader) within their workplace, family, community and are united in the efforts to make Broward a better place to live, work, & play. 




EVENT:  Day of Caring

DATE: Wednesday, November 29, 2017

TIME: 7:00 am to 2:00pm

LOCATION: BB&T Center – 1 Panther Parkway, Sunrise FL 33323

DESCRIPTION: Join UWBC in feeding the hungry.  Volunteers work together to prepare 300,000 meals for our neighbors in need

iHeart Radio & MISSION UNITED Collection

DATE: Fri, November 10th (Veterans Day)

TIME: 7a-7pm

LOCATION: Publix Parking Lot:1940 Cordova Rd, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33316

Join iHeart Radio and MISSION UNITED in the Harbor shops (Cordova Rd & 17th St) Publix Parking Lot to help promote and collect donations for veterans moving into their housing units.

Children must be accompanied by parents at all times.




Operation Turkey Dinner

DATE: Sat. November 18th

TIME: 10a-3pm

LOCATION: United Way of Broward County: 1300 South Andrews Ave Fort Lauderdale, FL 33316 (off Davie Blvd & Andrews Ave)

Help to distribute Thanksgiving boxes to those who have served in our military. Serving 500 families.

Children must be accompanied by parents at all times.



DRIVE: Adopt a Family for the Holidays

November 6th-December 8th

Tools for School

DATE: Sat. Jan 20th

TIME: 8a-12pm

LOCATION: Suddath Relocation Systems 1900 SW 43rd Terrace, Deerfield Beach, FL 33442

Help put school supplies in teacher’s trunks.

Make fun signs in advance and cheer teachers on as they pass through the line.

Children must be accompanied by parents at all times.






DATE: Sat. May 19th

TIME: 3-6pm

LOCATION:  Xtreme Action Park: 5300 Powerline Rd, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33309

Have fun with your family while supporting a great cause. Bring all the children’s book that are still in good condition to swap with other books. Learn about being a Reading Pal and supporting the Summer Slide Campaign ($20 to buy a 5 pack of brand new books for children in need to read over the summer).

Bring books and get a $5 arcade card.

Children must be accompanied by parents at all times.
