Why did you decide to get involved with United Way?
I decided to get involved with United Way because I wanted to join their Broward Youth Coalition program. I consider myself a youth leader and I volunteer in many youth organizations, I noticed that drug/alcohol use and anxiety and depression were real big issues teens in my school and community face and I wanted to help educate my peers and make a difference.

How many years have you been involved with United Way of Broward County?
Two years

What do you do with United Way?
I am the current President of the BYC club at Fort Lauderdale High. I lead my fellow BYC members in planning and implementing Drug Prevention and Mental Health Awareness activities and campaigns for our school. I am also the Secretary for the BYC Community based club that meets at United Way of Broward County monthly, I help organize our meetings and help plan Alternative Spring Break, Youth Leadership Institute and other actives.

If you could encourage someone else to volunteer what would you say to them?

That by helping United Way and BYC you would be changing and saving lives.

Tell us a fun fact about yourself.
I am from the Dominican Republic.
