2024 Alternative Spring Break

Join United Way of Broward County’s Commission on Behavioral Health & Drug Prevention’s Broward Youth Coalition, Broward Behavioral Health Coalition and the Florida Department of Children and Families for a fun SPRING BREAK!

1) Fort Lauderdale Beach Cleanup

Saturday, March 9th
8:00 AM – 11:00 AM
300 S. Fort Lauderdale Beach Blvd. (Intersection of Las Olas and A1A)

Join us as we keep our beaches clean while having fun!

Items to Note:

  • Attendees should be at least 8 years of age (adults must accompany minors)
  • Wear appropriate attire: t-shirts and shorts are acceptable
  • Wear closed-toe shoes (no flip-flops).
  • Bring a hat, sunscreen and water
  • Be sure to join us from 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM for a chance to receive special prizes and a few lucky t-shirt giveaways
  • Pre-registration not required

High School students can receive community service hours

2) 8th Annual Above the Influence ATI Rally

Join Broward County as we celebrate being above the influence with youth performances and a unity of the bands!

3) Hallandale Service Project

Friday, March 22nd

  • 6th – 12th grade students only
  • Packing food for a community food distribution
  • t-shirt giveaway
  • The Gulfstream Academy Community Partnership School CPS monthly food distribution allows volunteers to directly make an impact on families within our community. Volunteers set up, pack bags with food donated by Feeding South Florida. After that the food bags will be passed out to the Hallandale community. Bringing smiles to faces and food to tummies! This activity is completely outdoors (rain or shine).

4) Team Building at Tigertail Ropes Course

Tuesday, March 26th
11:45 AM – 5:30 PM
Tigertail Lake Recreational Center
580 Gulf Stream Way Dania Beach, FL 33004

  • Middle and High School students leaders
  • Lunch included
  • Everyone who attendees gets a t-shirt and a chance to win prizes
  • Parent waiver is required
  • Registration required
  • Have fun with Broward Youth Coalition BYC students doing high heights ropes courses.
  • This event is rain or shine.
  • Prepare to be outside with Wear closed-toe shoes (no flip-flops).

5) “What’s Eating Alex?” – An interactive Sociodrama exploring bullying and its consequences
