Trauma Responsive Learning Initiative

5/6/2024 | 9:30 AM - 12:30 PM

Moving Broward from “Trauma Informed” to “Trauma Responsive”

Join us for a transformative learning opportunity to elevate your organization’s internal and client-serving culture. Led by Dr. Stephanie Covington’s elite team, who have received national recognition for their work in creating community-wide change in the trauma field.

Your process will begin with 10-12 designated members of your organization attending one of the Cohort Kick-Off dates below. Following the Kick-Off of your Cohort, your agency will embark on an 18-month journey facilitated by Dr. Stephanie Covington’s team, to train your staff, operations, and policies on all aspects of trauma responsiveness. We are excited to work with you to make Broward a designated Trauma-Responsive community!

CEU’s will be available for the Kick-Off and Guide Team trainings.

About the Kick-Off Training:

With the increased awareness of the impact of stress, adversity, and trauma on people’s lives, professionals are considering what this means in their specific settings. There is a growing evidence-base documenting the impact of child neglect and abuse (as well as other forms of traumatic stress) on the health, mental health, and behavior of men and women. While research and clinical experience indicate a high incidence of trauma and co-occurring problems, professionals often struggle with the realities of providing effective management and services.

This is particularly challenging when many agencies have staff impacted by trauma in their personal and work lives. In addition, many settings struggle with organizational stress and trauma, which creates additional challenges in the environment and culture of the workplace.

Today the language “trauma informed” is common in many settings. The process of moving from trauma informed to trauma responsive in order to implement trauma-informed care (TIC) is often challenging to administrators and  staff. We will work with Broward organizations to overcome these challenges and create a trauma responsive community.
