Bringing Fresh Food to Our Community
United Way Broward is proud to partner with Planet Harvest, Chiquita, and Fresh Express to host the largest South Florida distribution site for the Fresh Communities Tour: From the Fields to America’s Cities.
On April 17, thousands of Broward County families will receive fresh, nutritious food—delivered with dignity, care, and community support.
This initiative reflects a shared commitment to expanding access to healthy food while supporting farmers, strengthening communities, and ensuring families have the resources they need to thrive.

What to Expect
This will be a drive-through food distribution, providing 5,000+ fresh food boxes to families across Broward County.
Each box includes:
- Fresh fruits and vegetables
- Chiquita® bananas
- Fresh Express® salad kits
- Chicken and pantry staples
- White rice and black beans
- A simple, healthy recipe for easy meal preparation
Families will also have access to nutrition resources and tools to support healthy eating at home.
Volunteer With Us
We’re looking for dedicated volunteers to help make this large-scale distribution possible. From packing boxes to assisting with drive-through traffic, your time will directly support families in need.
Volunteer Shifts:
- Shift 1: 8:30am-1:30pm
- Shift 2: 1:30pm-3:00pm
