United Is The Way People Are Empowered To Earn, Keep And Grow Assets
“My wife passed away, and my life went into a tailspin. I was faced with almost being homeless, and in need of help, I called United Way Broward. With the help of my case manager and many other people at MISSION UNITED, I gradually have been able to get my entire life together. Because I followed the program thoroughly, I have been qualified for a $235,000 mortgage, and the great people at MISSION UNITED helped me navigate this process.”
— David Cortijo, Veteran of the U.S. Army and client of United Way Broward’s MISSION UNITED
We have seen the studies: 37% of all households in Broward County are one emergency away from falling into poverty. Each month is a juggling act for so many, the ALICE (Asset Limited Income Constrained and Employed) population are our neighbors and friends who are facing obstacles beyond their control, frustrating their ability to become financially stable. (Watch the video here.) Through United Way, you are ensuring individuals and families have the skills and tools needed to earn, keep, and grow their assets. Your generosity provides the building blocks for creating a better life.
Project Lifeline
Project Lifeline helps ensure Broward County residents have access to nutritious food and essential groceries during times of need.
Through a network of nonprofit partners and community agencies, United Way of Broward County purchases and distributes fresh produce, proteins, dairy products, and pantry staples to families experiencing food insecurity. The program supports individuals and families facing financial hardship, helping them maintain healthier lifestyles while reducing the burden of rising food costs.
Project Lifeline plays a critical role in strengthening community health and stability by connecting residents with reliable access to food resources throughout Broward County.
