Join Neighbors, Friends, and Family to Show Your Appreciation and Community Spirit

Each year on November 11, communities pause to honor the brave men and women who have served in the United States Armed Forces. Veterans Day is a reminder of the courage, sacrifice, and unwavering commitment of those who have defended our freedoms, often at great personal costs.

Here in Broward County, the spirit of service runs deep. Our region is home to over 100,00 Veterans — individuals who have worn the uniform with pride and returned to build lives, families, and communities. Veterans enrich our neighborhoods as mentors, leaders, and everyday heroes. Many continue to serve through local organizations, volunteer work, and civic engagement.

In addition to honoring their service on Veterans Day, United Way Broward’s MISSION UNITED transforms Veterans’ lives year-round and empowers them every day with critical support, such as housing, legal aid, job placement, and more.

Here’s a list of community events across every municipality in Broward County, honoring our heroes with ceremonies, community gatherings, and heartfelt tributes for Veterans Day 2025. Wherever you live in Broward, there’s a meaningful event happening near you.

United Way Broward’s MISSION UNITED stands as a powerful force of gratitude and action for those who’ve served our country. Over 20,000 Veterans in Broward County have been connected to life-changing resources, and MISSION UNITED’s year-round care, unwavering support is continuous, comprehensive, and free:

  • Legal assistance for protecting rights and resolving complex challenges
  • Employment services for connecting Veterans to meaningful careers
  • Educational pathways for opening doors to new opportunities
  • Housing support and financial empowerment for building lasting stability

On Wednesday November 19, MISSION UNITED’s annual Operation Turkey Dinner invites everyone in the community to help us collect and distribute holiday meals for Veterans and their families. Be part of this fun, joyful event and help ensure everyone receives a festive meal on this day of gratitude.

Other ways you can show your support are by making a donation and becoming a volunteer for one of MISSION UNITED’s events throughout the year.

To our Veterans, active military service, and families — especially those who call Broward County home — all of us at United Way Broward thank you. Your courage inspires us, your service humbles us, and your legacy lives through all you’ve given.
