United Way of Broward County

United Way of Broward County is an architect of solutions for challenges faced by countless people in our community. Many organizations focus on one cause, but United Way really looks at the community as a whole and in a collaborative effort, creates solutions.

United Way of Broward County, along with community volunteers who are experts in their fields, identify specific gaps in services and then seek partners and funds to develop programs delivering measurable results. Through a collaborative approach, the best people, ideas, talents and resources are brought together to tackle complex challenges head on and create long-lasting positive changes in Broward County.

For more than 75 years, United Way of Broward County has invested more than half a billion dollars into the community.

Diversity and Inclusion: A Statement of Principle

United Way of Broward County will continually strive to be a model of diversity, equity, inclusion and justice. The United Way of Broward County’s Board of Directors, staff, and volunteers reflect all of the many faces, belief systems, values, expressions and walks of life, which proudly make up our nation. Together we genuinely demonstrate the principles of equity, diversity and inclusion which enrich all communities.

To value diversity is to respect and appreciate race, religion, skin color, gender, nationality, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, physical abilities, age, parental status, work and behavioral styles and the perspectives of each individual shaped by their nation and experiences. To be inclusive is to leverage diversity by bringing together unique individual backgrounds to collectively and more effectively address the issues facing our communities.

It is our aim, therefore, that United Way of Broward County’s partners, strategies, and investments reflect these core values. Diversity, inclusion and equity is a critical component to achieving success in an ever-changing environment. Everyday we experience the dramatic changes occurring in our county: changing demographics and changing needs. Our ability to employ effective inclusion practices and to make them an integral part of our business will enable United Way of Broward County to fulfill its mission of improving lives by mobilizing the caring power of the culturally diverse people in Broward County.
