Project Lifeline: Where to Go When People Are in Need of Healthy Food

30 Broward Sites Are Alleviating Food Insecurity Together

In Broward County, economic disparities often leave families struggling to put food on the table. Project Lifeline, operated and funded by United Way Broward, is life-saving initiative born out of the pressing need to combat food insecurity.

Project Lifeline was launched in response to alarming statistics: Nearly 40% of Florida families living below the ALICE (Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed) threshold reported that their children were not eating enough due to financial hardships. Recognizing that the majority of people in our community are lacking nutrition, United Way Broward designed Project Lifeline to ensure people in need receive food that supports their health, well-being, and overall dignity.

Through a variety of strategic partnerships, Project Lifeline coordinates the delivery of fresh food to 30 distribution sites. Every year, these locations help thousands of Broward’s residents, including seniors, single parents, children, and Veterans.

Project Lifeline operates through a streamlined supply chain. United Way Broward purchases food in bulk from local vendors and farms, ensuring quality and cost-efficiency. The food then is distributed to partner agencies, which handle the final delivery to individuals and families. These agencies are carefully selected based on their capacity, community reach, and commitment to serving vulnerable populations.

Unlike traditional food programs that rely heavily on canned goods and processed items, Project Lifeline focuses on delivering fresh produce, dairy, meats, and grains to a network of food pantries and feeding programs across Broward.

Here’s a list of the food-distribution sites supported by your United Way’s Project Lifeline, and each makes a substantial impact in our community’s fight against hunger.
