Women United-Improving Lives through Philanthropy, Passion and Action

GET ENERGIZED AND INSPIRED AT OUR 12TH ANNUAL MAGNOLIA LUNCHEON

BY JEDIDIAH QUIÑONES, DIRECTOR OF WOMEN’S PHILANTHROPY AND ANNUAL GIVING AT UNITED WAY OF BROWARD COUNTY

DPL38960.jpgWomen United is a global force of 80,000+ women improving the lives of women, older adults, children and families in the communities where they live.

When Women United started, United Way of Broward County was among the early United Ways to launch this initiative and to embrace all it represents — promoting early learning programs, helping reduce the risks of substance abuse, supporting direct access to healthcare services, empowering economic prosperity, helping provide housing support, taking better care of seniors and so much more.

12.jpgThis year marks the 12th anniversary of the inception of this women-focused, philanthropic affinity group at United Way of Broward County — and it is remarkable to see how Women United has expanded and brought incredible impact to children, families and seniors who live in Broward County.

Our Women United now includes nearly 1,000 women addressing Broward County’s most pressing problems. Every day, they bring unique passion, expertise and energy to improve the community we call home, and within the past year, this vibrant, diverse group of women provided life-changing support to thousands of friends and neighbors in our community.

Very soon, Women United members and its supporters will come together at a one-of-a-kind signature event to connect, energize and inspire each other at Women United’s 12th Annual Magnolia Luncheon!

DPL38960.jpgThis annual event — held this year on Wednesday, December 6th, at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida — recognizes and celebrates incredible women of dignity, strength and perseverance in our community. The VIP reception begins at 10:30 a.m., and our annual luncheon begins at 11:30 a.m.

Our Magnolia Luncheon is a powerful way to honor women making a substantial difference in Broward County — purpose-driven, passionate women leading the charge and inspiring change. Women attending this event are at the forefront of our United Way’s mission to bring Health, Education and Financial Prosperity to every person in our community.

Both Traci and Heidi have a long-standing, deep commitment to helping underserved people and to motivating the next wave of leaders in Broward County.

In addition, our dynamic keynote speaker at the event will be one of the most critically acclaimed speakers in the U.S. — Melissa Stockwell, Paralympic medalist and U.S. Army Veteran who has been awarded a Bronze Star and Purple Heart for her heroic achievements.

Our Magnolia Luncheon is an extraordinary illustration of the collective impact when women in our community are connected to each other.
