Department: Senior Administrative Coordinator
Reports to: Director, Financial Prosperity and Emergency Management
Status: Exempt, Full-Time
General Description: Contribute to the development and execution of United Way’s work in the Financial Prosperity area including the provision of financial education, one-on-one financial coaching, career counseling, financial resource navigation, and economic advocacy for all program participants.
Responsibilities:
- Provide one-on-one financial coaching services to participants including assessing financial situations and helping clients develop realistic spending, savings, budgets, and debt management plans, improving or building credit, developing emergency savings funds, and building assets (retirement, education, housing, etc.).
- Lead participants through the process of creating a Financial Success plan to help ensure that all the resources, services and activities participants need to succeed will be part of their experience.
- Assists with the planning and implementation of all meetings and trainings aimed to improve the financial and economic literacy of students and families.
- Conducts career assessment, advocacy, counseling, job training and interagency collaboration to ensure effective and efficient delivery of services to program participants.
- Maintains accurate and complete records and documentation for program participants related to services and activities.
Other Job Duties:
- Provides follow-up services for program participants.
- Assist with the administration and distribution of financial assistance dollars to participants.
- Assists the Director of Financial Prosperity and Emergency Management with the execution of disaster response and recovery activities during times of crisis.
- Organizes and facilitates various training and special events.
- Provides referral services and coordination for eligible participants.
- Provides orientation and career counseling to eligible participants in employment programs.
- Assists participants in assessing their job skills for employment; instructs participants in application procedures, interviewing preparation.
- Provides job search/career information workshops and presentations for participants.
- Operates a variety of equipment including personal computers, copy/fax machines, and related equipment.
- Due to the leadership role United Way is called upon to play in the community, particularly during times of crisis, it is the expectation that all United Way staff will be fully engaged in the organization’s crisis plan and response efforts.
Supervises: This position has no supervisory responsibilities
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor degree required
- One to three years’ experience of related experience in financial coaching/career counseling and/or training
- Knowledge of word processing equipment and computers with proficiency required in MS Word, MS Excel, MS Power Point, and other related computer programs as needed.
- Must possess excellent presentation skills.
- Prior experience in emergency management a plus.
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills required.
- Strong customer service skills required.

Environment & Physical Demands: The environment is climate controlled (i.e., heated and air-conditioned). Lighting is adequate through overhead lighting as well as windows and blinds. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
Physical demands include sitting and/or standing for extended periods of time, bending, lifting approximately 25 pounds, regular use of the telephone, copier, fax and computer. Demands also involve protracted concentration.
